OUR PASTOR

Pastor Samuel Owens was called to serve as the pastor of Westside Baptist Church on October 27, 2021. He succeeded his father, Pastor David Owens Sr., who faithfully led the church for thirteen years before the Lord called him home to Heaven.​

 

Pastor Samuel is a country boy at heart. He was raised in a preacher’s home and came to know Christ as his Savior at the age of eleven. A year later, he surrendered his life to serve the Lord. By the time he was seventeen, he knew God was calling him to the mission field. After graduating from high school, he attended Bible college, and later earned a Doctorate of Divinity.

 

He went on to serve as the Assistant Pastor at Westside Baptist Church. In 2013, Pastor Samuel answered God’s call to the mission field and faithfully served in the Republic of Georgia until the Lord led him back to take the pastorate at Westside Baptist Church.

 

Pastor Samuel preaches the Word of God boldly and without apology, yet those who know him will tell you he is one of the kindest and most gracious men you will ever meet. He devotes much of his time to counseling and discipling young Christians, helping them grow in their faith and confidence in the Word of God.

Pastor Samuel has been happily married to his wife, Carla, since 2012. She has faithfully served the Lord alongside her husband throughout their ministry. Together, they have been blessed with six daughters and two sons.
